A mattress protector accomplishes four things:
- Keeps the mattress absolutely clean. Human bodies are very disgusting. We’re just perspiring at night. Both of us manufacture oil from our skins. Any of us are wearing lipstick. We all shed dead skin cells, too. There are other things that could create a “wet spot” on the bed. Much of this can be soaked in your sheets and mattress. When you get a bit into your mattress, it’s nearly hard to get it out of your mattress. A mattress protector prevents all of these from touching the mattress and can be removed and cleaned clean.
- Keeps the mattress looking “like new” for longer. Perspiration (or some sort of sweat, such as spilling a drink) can pull down the foams in the mattress, diminishing the ease of living. It has a similar influence on the kitchen sponge after so many applications. Even if only a slight amount of moisture comes in, after years of use every night it adds up. Without the protector, you will need to change the mattress more quickly.
- Helps keep reactions to the dust mite from acting up. Dust mite allergies are very common and can lead to symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, wheezing, and shortness of breath. Dust mites destroy dead skin cells, and the mattress would have dead skin cells if you don’t use a protector.
- Helps to secure the warranty. As I stated in my warranty entry, the warranty would be voided by a stain. And if the stain has nothing to do with the question of the warranty, the warranty is still invalid.
